First of all, welcome to this site, and thank you for taking the time to read this text. You may be wondering why another SCADA, with so many choices already available.

While developing HMI solutions, we often noticed that the cost of the run-time and development licences was even higher than the cost of the development work itself. Another important thing we noticed is that, to reach your goal, you normally use only a few of the many features at your disposal. And in the worst cases, every feature you need has to be paid for separately, on top of the initial cost.

In other words, we were tired of paying a lot of money even for a simple HMI solution.

In 2012 we started this project called "eScada HMI solution", where (e) stands for essential. It is essential because it focuses on the essential features you normally need. After all this development time, the result is an affordable HMI solution with many interesting features.

eScada doesn't require any installation procedure nor compilation, because it is designed to be used even from removable media, without any dependency on the OS or other frameworks.

Development tools and run-time licence

There is no need to pay for the development tools: they can be used to implement a real solution without any restriction. You can try everything, and buy the licence for the final run-time use only when you are satisfied. Without a valid run-time licence, the only restriction is that the run-time component will work for one hour.

Payment is required only for the run-time licence of the server component. The licence is strictly bound to the major release number, the specific OS family and the physical device. OS family refers to either Windows or Linux; the physical device refers to the specific hardware configuration to which the solution will be deployed and registered.

In case of hardware failure, the replacement hardware must be licensed; you can use the previous licence file until you get a new licence code. With the previous licence file the HMI solution will work without any restriction, but a warning message will appear every hour. The new licence code will be generated free of charge for a one-time hardware replacement only, and only by sending all three required items:

1. the new registration code
2. the previous original licence document
3. the previous licence file

Without these items, you are not entitled to a new licence free of charge.

Any hardware clone or virtual machine copy requires its own separate licence: cloning a licensed physical or virtual machine does not grant the right to use the clone under the same licence.
